Found Through Form
The Spiral Vase began as an exploration of form before function. A cylinder was pulled at opposing ends, one movement downward and the other upward, until a soft spiraling lean emerged. What followed was not a predefined object, but a discovered silhouette with enough tension and character to become something new.
A Spiraling Architecture
Three offset layers created a vessel where the space between each spiral became part of the function. Flowers are not arranged into the vase in a conventional way. They inhabit the gaps, rising and descending through the object depending on the viewer’s perspective.
Reflection as Function
The chrome plated surface transforms the vase into a reflective object. It shows the back of the petal, the side of the flower most people never appreciate, doubling the arrangement through reflection. The flower becomes both present and fleeting, changing as the viewer moves around the piece.
Closer to the Surface
Up close, the object becomes less about a single silhouette and more about the way its layers interact. The reflective surface, curved openings, and overlapping edges create moments of depth, distortion, and quiet detail that shift as the viewer moves around the piece.
